YOU CAN’T DO IT ALONE
We all need a little help along the way, “show me a self made man and I’ll show you a man who is probably selfish.” The first century writer Peter understood this concept all to well. He was a fisherman, a fiercely independent man given to strident statements and impulsive action. One day while fishing, he met Jesus of Nazareth and his life was dramatically changed. As a member of Jesus’ inner circle he listened as the “Fisher of Men” spoke of service and compassion for our fellow man. He slowly came to understand that he needed help to become who he was meant to be. Later in his life, he wrote that we should all maintain unity of heart, caring for one another and courteous. Don’t misunderstand, we all must take responsibility for our own lives and celebrate our successes, but no one is an island.
In our business, encouragement, teamwork, and sharing is part of the fabric and culture that makes this such a unique company. “Team Up” is a great concept because it brings the energy and encouragement of the group to each individual person. Even if you are not formally participating in “Team Up” it is still a good idea to partner with someone else who can encourage you and someone who you can encourage. Try to establish relationships where you are being mentored and whereby you can mentor someone. As you participate in these teams and relationships, you will be amazed how similar our obstacles are and how we can learn to overcome them by sharing with one another.
A.W. Tozer said “God is looking for people through whom He can do the impossible-what a pity that we plan only the things we can do by ourselves.”
