The Dream Giver Strikes Again

Yesterday, Becky and I boarded the Ferry from Cape May, N.J. to Lewes, Delaware. It was a beautiful afternoon, the first day of autumn and we headed west into the setting sun. We had our books and headed topside for the 75 minute voyage across the Delaware Bay. Wanting mostly to just sit and enjoy the cool breezes and scenic views, we were a bit surprised to hear the person sitting across from us (Monica) ask about one of the books we had sitting on our laps, “Can’t You Talk Louder God” (a great little primer on hearing the voice of God by Steve Schultz). So began an hour long conversation with Monica (and her Aunt Dolly) on topics such as caring for aging parents, oil prices, family dynamics, our business (Shaklee), our home church, and what seems to be our topic du jour, DESTINY.

As we wound our way through the various subjects, we asked Monica about her involvement in her church and what her passion and future dreams were. She began to tell us of her long standing dream to go to Uganda and do mission work with the children. She was caring for an elderly mother (Dolly’s sister) and her vision for her destiny and purpose had become somewhat blurred. Since Becky had just finished a book by Bruce Wilkerson called “Dream Giver,” (another one that you may want to get), it was a natural progression to begin encouraging her about not giving up on her dream. Becky told her that our son Paul had just got back from Uganda and about our other friends who were visiting there. Among other things, Becky told her that there was much opportunity to minister in Uganda (and Africa in general) and that this meeting was not coincidental. Monica began to tear up and her face brightened as her dream was awakened within her.

By the time the ship was beginning to dock, Monica was refreshed and re-focused on her destiny. Monica’s last words to us were “I am so encouraged” We exchanged information, hugged our new friends and headed for our cars.

Be ready for divine appointments and helping people see their vision more clearly. Shaklee is often the answer to those who have dreamed of having their own business and doing something important for others. Remember, those who encourage others will also be encouraged.

Where there is no vision, the people wander about aimlessly
